Help & FAQ
General
Which shops can use it?
Any shop that sells products: textile shops, kirana stores, hardware, bakeries, mobile shops, boutiques, gift and stationery shops and many more. WhatsApp doesn't allow some products on its platform (fireworks, alcohol, tobacco, weapons and a few others), so we can't set up those shops.
How is it different from the free WhatsApp Business app?
With the free app you reply by hand, write down orders, share UPI details each time and look for payment screenshots in each chat. With pocketshelf the bot replies instantly, takes the order with a cart, sends your QR with the exact amount, puts the screenshot beside the order for one-tap approval and sends every status update for you. The free app costs nothing; pocketshelf is a plan fee plus Meta's message fees.
How do customers pay?
Customers pay to your own UPI ID / QR code and send the payment screenshot in the chat. You verify it in your dashboard with one click. We take 0% of your sales.
Is it the official WhatsApp API? Will my number get banned?
We only use Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API — no QR-scan hacks. Follow WhatsApp's commerce policy (no prohibited items like fireworks, alcohol or tobacco) and your number stays safe.
Are there WhatsApp message charges?
Replies to customers who message you first are free for 24 hours. Messages sent after 24 hours use paid templates billed by Meta: about ₹0.12 for an order update and about ₹0.86 for an offer (marketing) message in India, plus 18% GST. We add nothing on top.
Do I need a website or Shopify?
No. You get your own store page. You list products in your pocketshelf dashboard, and customers order on your store page or directly inside WhatsApp.
Can I keep using WhatsApp on my phone?
Yes. We use the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). With the coexistence option you can keep your WhatsApp Business app on your phone with the same number.
Does the bot speak Tamil?
Yes. You can choose Tamil or English for your bot menus and messages.
Can I download invoices for GST filing?
Yes, on the Pro plan. The Invoices page lists every paid order's invoice by day, month or any date range, and downloads a CSV with CGST, SGST and IGST worked out per customer's state, plus an HSN-wise summary — ready for your accountant's GSTR-1.
How is the courier charge worked out?
Your choice: one fixed price, or your own price table by distance and parcel weight (for example up to 10 km and 1 kg = ₹40). The distance is measured from your shop to the customer's location and the weight comes from your products, so customers see the exact charge before they order.
Can I stop spam or fake orders?
Yes. Block any number from Customers. The bot stops replying to it, it can't place orders and it gets no offers. You can unblock it any time.
Can I try it before connecting my number?
Yes. The built-in WhatsApp simulator lets you chat with your own bot from the dashboard before going live.
Something not working?
I didn't get the login code.
Email: look in Spam and Promotions, and check the address for typos. WhatsApp: make sure the number has WhatsApp. Wait 30 seconds and tap Resend. Still nothing? Message our support on WhatsApp.
A customer says the bot didn't reply.
Check that WhatsApp shows Connected in your dashboard and your shop is Live. If the customer chose “Talk to owner”, the bot stays quiet until you resume it from Inbox or they type menu.
A customer sent a fake or wrong screenshot.
Always match the amount and UTR in your bank or UPI app before approving. Tap Reject and the customer is asked to pay again.
A number keeps sending spam or fake orders.
Open Customers, tap ✕ (Block) next to the number and pick a reason. The bot stops replying to it and it can't order. You can unblock it from the Blocked tab.
The courier charge shows “from ₹…”.
With courier priced by distance & weight, the exact charge appears once the customer taps “Use my current location”. Check that your shop's map location is saved in Settings → Shop details.
How do I hide a product that's out of stock?
Set quantity to 0 (customers see “Out of stock”), or tap Hide to take it off WhatsApp completely.
